"'Tis a sad, sad daaaay...." by ash_night

Title: "'Tis a sad, sad daaaay...."
Author: ash_night
Rating: G
Pairing: Will/Elizabeth
Warnings: I hate myself. Two character deaths, one is Elizabeth's... and the other... *sniffle*
Disclaimer: The Mouse has me bound to it in chains. I am nothing bit a small meager writer with a wandering mind.
Notes: *takes a deep breath* This is completely dialogue, be warned. Ellipses are gallore along with the inproper uses of English. All intentional I say. Lots of love to http://www.livejournal.com/users/magicspromise who beta-read (finally understood the origin of the term) and for the last line in which she had a Jack going "nah nah nah... something something.... nah nah nah nah.... Drink up me 'earties." Inspired by http://www.livejournal.com/users/gileonnen who made me realize that Jack was characterized by dialogue that is always slightly off topic... (and that Will is exasperated when he's around Jack.) Jack is his speak, and from speak, comes Jack. And a nod to: http://www.io.com/~sj/PirateTalk.html for a wonderful guide on Pirate-speak. And feedback is very to the third power appreciated. Did I screw Jack or Will up totally? Talk to me or else I'll never learn.

"Where is the little brat and what happened to the food?"

"There isn't one Jack."

Pause. "There isn't?"

"Died. Took Elizabeth too... Let the servants go. No need for 'em to stay."

"Will." Strained. "I'm sorry for you lad, really am. Strong woman she was, that Elizabeth Turner, wits about her, burnt the rum and saved --"

"-- Jack."

"Sorry, sorry."

...

"Mayhaps, this might not be the best of times to mention it, but you aren't, thinking of, you know, jumping into Davy Jones' locker, are you?"

"I don't know, Jack... I don't know."

...

"Fine, Jack. What do you want me to do about it?"

"Come join me on me ship?"

"What?"

"You know, laddie... join me on the Black Pearl, swab the deck, pillage, plunder and get very, very drunk on rum. The usual pirate-y stuff, you know... Rum?"

"Thanks." Long, very long swig.

Restrained hand motions. Mutters under breath, "That's all me rum I've got." Louder. "Well? Are you to be joinin' me, Will?"

Long sigh. "Will you allow me to mourn in peace then?"

"Of course, of course. And get you drunk up to your ears. Very, very drunk... yes, yes yes, the drunker the better."

"Jack?"

"What can I do for you? I'm all ears and on my knees at your service. Just tell me, and I'll do it. Quick as a flash. What is it that you want me to do boy?"

"Shut up."

"Should I get some more rum?"

"Jack!"

"More rum it is." Moves to exit, stops. "Will?"

...

"You won't be killin' yourself would you while I'm off grabbing the stores?"

Exasperated. "Jack..."

"Just making sure." Softer. "I've enough die on me already..."

"I'll be here Jack. I swear it."

"On life, honor and the hell's damnation?"

"On life, honor and the hell's damnation -- now would you please leave, and go get the bloody rum?"

"Yes, yes, yes... rum." Halfway through the door. "Will?"

"Go!"

"Yes, fine! Rum!!" Peeks head back. "Will... She was a fine woman... and the babe..."

"Boy."

"Would've made a fine young man, just like you and your father. You've done good with yourself, better than most men could've hoped for in their lives. Don't be blaming yourself too harshly... There's nothing you could've done."

"I know."

Softly. "And perhaps that's the hardest part." Pause. "Good, so you'll be staying there then, safe in your seat, far away from sharp objects and pistols and ropes and the ocean and other whatnot, right?"

Warning. "Jack."

"You're a bloody blacksmith, of course I'm supposed to worry... Fine, savvy, and if I find you off hanging off the balcony by your stockings..."

"I won't. I promised."

"And you keep your word." Pause, smile. "Off on me onesies to go get the rum!"

"Bloody pirate."

"I'm not deaf boy! Nah nah nah nah... Drink up me 'earties... 'Tis a sad, sad daaaay...."
